Data acquisition in the vehicle for development

For developing, testing and subsequently validating control units or even entire systems in the field of driver assistance and automated driving, it is essential to carry out a real driving test and as well to run in data. The main goal is to collect measurement data from sensors – like camera, radar or lidar – vehicle networks and bus systems. Moreover, to harvest important sensor data from camera, radar and lidar in the vehicle.

There are three main data streams that are of high interest during data testing:

  • Sensor data, which is necessary for validation, as well as for the training of AI-supported functions.
  • Software data and variables in the ECU, as well as accurate ECU and algorithm insights.
  • Vehicle bus data, which provides information about detected objects and other results from the algorithms.
